Degree: Doctor en Ingeniería.

The PhD in engineering comprises 400 class hours (40 credits) that are rendered during the formative (200 hours) and specialization (200 hours) cycles.

In the first formative cycle, which includes the compulsory courses that are common to every orientation and at least one course in accordance with the chosen orientation, are included the following working areas:

  • Teleinformatics and Telecommunications
  • Electronics
  • Information Technology
  • Industrial
  • Bioengineering

The specialization cycle comprises elective courses.

  • Compulsory courses are common to every doctorate graduate and are: applied mathematics, numerical methods, and research methodology.
  • Compulsory courses per each working line: one course should be chosen among the available options per each of the large suggested topics.
  • Elective courses: they comprise the specialization cycle and are chosen after an agreement between the PhD student and the corresponding dissertation or thesis director/supervisor. The plan proposed should be approved by the academically scientific committee. The elective course can be chosen among the school doctorate courses or they can be attended in other universities.  Other orientations compulsory courses are also considered elective courses.

Research capacity:

Once approved the formative course defined in the degree program and before two years from the enrollment date, the PhD student should present a definitive research plan, where the topic state of the art, goals, methodologies, and a plan to fulfill the purposes are included.

Admission requirements

  • Thesis director/supervisor’s Curriculum vitae/ résumé.
  • Spanish Language is mandatory
  • Personal interview
  • Corresponding application form duly signed and completed.
  • Photocopy of the identification document (first three pages.)
  • Certified photocopy of the graduate degree diploma.
  • Certified photocopy of the graduate transcript course.
  • In case of having advanced studies: Photocopy of the diploma and transcript.
  • Curriculum vitae or résumé (updated and signed).
  • Two (2) id card photographs.
  • Preliminary working plan and proposed director/supervisor.
  • Thesis director/supervisor’s agreement letter.
