The UM strengthens its internationalization policy

Seventy foreign students -from different universities and nationalities- will attend the second semester in our university.


As every year, the UM welcomes foreign students of different nationalities to attend a semester or a school year. In this opportunity, the young people come from Mexico, Colombia, Peru, Brazil, France, Germany, Italy and Spain to attend courses of study of Law, Business Administration, Design, Architecture, Dentistry, Psychology, Medicine and Engineering.

In order to formally start the mobility of this semester, Dr. Ruth Leiton -Head of International Relations and Postgraduate office- together with her team organized the welcome meeting in the UM`s Main Room, with the presence of university officials, like the UM’s President, deans, academic secretaries, department directors, career coordinators, mobility managers and professors. Representatives of the consulates were also part of the audience; Tourist Police, University City (of the Municipality of the Capital) and UM´s tutor students.

In this event, the UM’s President, Dr. Emilio Vázquez Viera, warmly welcomed the young students to our Study House and encouraged them to enjoy and take advantage of this experience that is presented today to learn and incorporate new knowledge and experiences. For his part, the dean of the School of Architecture, Urban Planning and Design -the architect Eduardo Salomon- invited them to consult with their teachers and with the same authorities any question or need that they have during their courses.

Subsequently, the International team informed them about the accident assistance insurance that all UM students have, including the exchange students, and how to use it in case of need. They were also explained about the immigration process, the academic recommendations were made and presented the recreational activities offered by UM to all its students. Among the activities were told that they can be part of football, volleyball, basketball and other sports teams, in addition to being able to go to the gym or join the theater workshop.

In the case of students who do not speak Spanish, the UM offers a Spanish Language Course for Foreigners, which will help them to improve their knowledge of the language and increase their vocabulary for the presentation of papers and academic exams. Tourist Police of Mendoza, spoke about the recommendations and precautions that the youth should have during their stay and provided them with contacts in case of assistance necesity. “Ciudad Universitaria” presented its cultural agenda and invited all students to join the different activities and discounts offered from “Ciudad U!”.

At the end of the event, a traditional welcome lunch was held at the UM Sports Campus, where the students and their tutors enjoyed the green space and were able to get to know each other and strengthen bonds of friendship. Strengthening the UM internationalization policy, this semester there will be students from different nationalities who will tour our classrooms and courtyards and will interact with students and teachers of the UM community, living an experience that we hope will change their professional and personal life Very positively.
