Scientific Work in Colombia

Under the name "Algoritmo para la determinación de la dimensión fractal de una imagen mediante el método del prisma - Algorithm for the determination of the fractal dimension of an image by means of the prism method", this scientific work was introduced at the 23rd Meeting of Geometry and its Applications by the researcher Dr. Jesús Rubén Azor Montoya at the School of Medical Sciences of the Universidad de Mendoza.

This work has been introduced within the framework of the research project "Clasificación de tejidos mediante la característica fractal de la imagen mamográfica - Classification of tissues using the fractal characteristic of the mammographic image". Dr. Montoya has also published it in the corresponding Memoirs. The event was held on June 21, 22 and 23 of this year, at the facilities of the National Pedagogical University and Sergio Arboleda University, Bogotá (Colombia).

The work was received with great interest by the participants, who have asked several questions about the exhibition. The author has also participated in Forums, Conferences and Workshops related to Geometry and Educational Subjects. The Meeting of Geometry and its Applications is an international academic event organized by the mentioned institutions along with the Colombian School of Engineering Julio Garavito and the Francisco José de Caldas District University, which started in 1990 and is celebrated every two years since the year 2011.

Meeting objectives:

  • Contribute to the dissemination of results obtained from studies, experiences, innovations and research in geometry, its didactics and its applications.
  • Contribute to the training of students of mathematics and mathematics education, and teachers of primary, secondary and higher education in topics related to geometry, its didactics and its applications.
  • Foster the interaction between mathematicians, mathematical educators, teachers, users of mathematics and students of mathematics and mathematics education, in order to encourage the exchange of ideas and experiences.
  • Promote the study of the fundamentals of geometry, its philosophy, its methods, its history, its didactics, its applications and its relations with other branches of mathematics.
